Hugh has been a qualified teacher of English for over 20 years. He has taught in English secondary schools, and is also experienced in teaching foreign students of different nationalities. He spent several years teaching English to students in Germany, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

His interests include sailing, jazz and travel. He has an honour's degree in English and fine art, and a master's degree in linguistics and English language teaching from Leeds University.
